According to Friedman, change is happening. He defines wealth as being “something you can pass on in a way that others can enjoy.” Both economically and environmentally this is not occurring. Both of these systems are unable to sustain the rate and amount of our growth so they are collapsing.

I think this is one reason why Obama inspires such devotion: he isn’t just talking about political change. He wants us to shift our entire economy in a direction that will improve our living standards–for everyone around the world. When our economy focuses on green energy sources, the planet will be cleaner, healthier and more beautiful for everyone.
